cloud wig tutorial
and other neat wig information
well, I originally made this tutorial for someone on gaia who was looking to make a cloud wig but I decided to give it to all of you! so I hope is this helps, there are also other tips about general wig styling!
tips!!
first tip, dont use your hair! I hate it when people use their hair!!
the only way to get a good cloud wig is to use gravity comb spikes, use GOT2B "glued" it comes in bright yellow tube, I bought mine a zellers but you can get it anywhere!
this is great for shaping the spikes, its easy to work with and come to life with a spray of warm water (unless you've set it) these spikes will stay bouncy and nice on the stand but tend to droop of worn, so you need to set it...
another helpful product is salonselectives 'stay put' hold (its usualy purple), get this non-aerosol if you can because aerosol will not last as long and will stink up your room really bad!! this spray is amazing for setting your spikes (as in, you spray it when the spikes are formed and the GOT2B is dried completely)
note: if you cannot find this stuff, got2b freeze spray works just a well
three obvious things you need are a fine toothed comb (you'll see why later) and a water spritzer filled with warm walter (incase you dont like the way a spike turned out). also refrence photos! I cant stress the impotance! here where mine for the cloud wig:
for a wig base I used cosworx punky in colour 613, its a relatively cheep wig, is the perfect colour (the natural white blond cloud has is quite hard to achieve in most wig). (before styling)
tutorial
first thing to do is to securely attach your wig to your head using normal sewing pins is a good idea. the get a coffe table, one that you can rest side ways over an arm chair like I did or anything that you can manipulete to be at a 90' angle and upside down. tilt the wig to 0' and tie it back in a pony tail:
having at 90' is really important because other wise your pony tail will sag, no matter how hard you try!! leave the top and side pieces free and use a pair of nice scissors to snip snip it off! then, collect the top (al the hair with thick weaving at the base) into a ponytail leaving the sides free
pin the sides around the face so they're out of the way, then turn the wig back to 90' and spike the back out with your gel, let dry over night a this angle then spray with your sealing spray and let dry for an hour.
next turn your wig so it is level with the floor, divide the sides in thirds and pin the front 2/3 forward again. tilt it to the 90' again (are you understanding why this is called gravity spikes yet? and spike it down flatish. (this will inolve more cutting)
unfortunately I didnt take many reference pictures after that... the way you do the spike is: form the spike in your hand covering it semi-thickly in the gel ( I did this by putting some in my hand and smoothing it around the running the hair though my hands), then use your fine toothed comb and bush it though a few times so you get a natural hair texture! hold it for about two minutes while it dries then spray it down with your sealant! ( also, feel free to cut if you think its nessisary)
spike the sides down in points and the top up for the top spikes and down for the bangas, do avoid what I did the first time, and spiked the top RIGHT UP :
not cool at all! spike them up and back and try to get a diamond spikes
if you did like I did with the side spikes, you'll need to respike them a few times, the way to get them (enough that they spike down) and spray it heavily! dont be afraid to stick sewing pins into the head to hold the cloths pins in the right position to get the right angle!!
after its completely 100% dried ( wait about a week at least!) take it out around down or sit out side with it on, the wind will f$#k it up bad and you'll see where you need to improve. re-spike the parts that flop and give it a final spray!! (this is the step I'm at)
(dont ask why shuichi is wearing it...)
hope that helped!
bueno es todo por ahora ^.^ me esforze mucho por cierto si yo hiciera un cosplay seria HACHUNE MIKU!!! viva hachune es mi idol XD!
